(Physical Fitness Test)
The changes were supposed to take effect on January 1, 2014. Females would be required to complete a set of pull-ups, instead of the flex arm hang exercise.
It is unclear why the changes have been delayed. A representative from the Marine Corps cited that based on the data they have collected, there were potential risks with making the transition now.
A risk of potential injury to the Marine? Perhaps the potential risk is mass failure. I suspect that a high number of female Marines are unable to complete the minimum of 3 pull-ups to pass the test.
If that is the case, then many female Marines would not meet the new fitness standards. That could be a real problem since standard protocol is to separate a Marine when the Marine can no longer meet the fitness standards.
Fortunately the delay has bought female Marines more time to train for the upcoming changes, and I have the perfect workout program to ensure their success. Just take a quick look at this case study. Michael went from 3 to 18 pull-ups in 8 weeks!
At this time, it is still vague when the changes will actually take place. Until then, train and get ready!
